Intown CycloCross-Track Race in East Atlanta on May 15
Intown CycloCross-Track Race for Charity
The East Atlanta Kids Club’s 7th- annual Brownwood Bike Rally & Run returns on May 15 to beautiful Brownwood Park in East Atlanta, where kids and adults will participate in street bike and Cyclocross-track races, a 5K Run/Walk, and other cycling- and fitness-related activities.
The event also includes a jumping castle,crafts and other fun activities to entertain the whole family.
All proceeds benefit the East Atlanta Kids Club, an after-school tutoring, mentoring and enrichment program for promising youth. EAKC's activities include youth cycling and triathlon training programs.
When: Saturday, May 15, 2010, 8:00 am – 2:00 pm
Where: Brownwood Park, 602 Brownwood Avenue SE, Atlanta, GA 30316 (and surrounding streets in East Atlanta)
Time: The 5K Run/Walk begins at 8:00 am; bike races and cycling events begin at 9:30am and end at 2:00 pm.
Cost: Event admission is free for all. Races are free for children, $10-$25 for adults.

Racing Info: Kids ages 5 to 15 and Adults (16 & up)can enjoy the 5K Run/Walk and closed course street bike racing along East Atlanta streets. There are adult bike races for all skill levels, including a “Fun Race” for all comers, and Cyclocross-Track Criterium races for beginner to advanced cyclists, on a closed course that covers both East Atlanta streets and Brownwood Park’s dirt paths. Prizes and awards will be given in all categories.

Distances and Start Times
5K Run/Walk: Start Time 8:00 am (all ages)
Youth Bike Races & Bike Rodeo 9:30am-12:30pm. Age Groups 5-7 yrs/ 8-11 yrs (1 lap) & 12-15 yrs (2 laps). Kids will do 1st race heat (10.15am) and 2nd final race (11.45am).
Adult “Fun” Race Start Time 11.00am 2 laps (approx 1 mile).
Cross-Track Races: Group B (Beginners Men & Women) -- 12:15 pm – 15 minutes + 1 lap. Group A (Advanced and Intermediate Men & Women) -- 12:40 pm - 30 minutes + 3 laps.
Course for Kids & Adult Fun Bike Races
From Brownwood Park the criterium course runs left onto Brownwood Ave, left on Pendleton Street, left on Gresham, left on Portland and left back to Brownwood Ave. The course has a small hill and some speed bumps.
CycloCross Track Races ($25)
(Group A) Open to Men and Women meeting USA Cycling Road Category & Cyclocross Categories 1/2/3/4 and MTB Categories Pro / Semi Pro/ Expert/ Sport. (Group B) Open to Men and Women beginners and race novices wanting to try some off road racing!
CycloCross Track Rules
Mountain Bikes and CycloCross Bikes are allowed. Off Road Tires recommended. (You can race in both the A & B races if you are capable of doing so for only an additional $10. You do not need a USA Cycling [USCF or NORBA] license to race.
CycloCross Track Course Info
The race is a blend of Road Crit, CycloCross and Short Track MTB. (Half the course on road and the other half on the South side dirt trails of Brownwood Park) Racers will head south on Brownwood Ave, left on Pendleton and right over the curb into the South Loop in Brownwood Park. Racers will do a loop in the south portion of the park and come back out onto Pendleton, then around the crit course back to the start /finish line.
Adult Fun Races ($10)
No restrictions on types of bikes, tires or wheels. All styles of bikes are accepted (Road, Mountain, Commuter, Track, Tandem, Unicycle, Recumbent!) The course does have speed bumps so please use appropriate wheels. All racers must wear approved helmets. Back by popular demand: Prize for Funkiest Bike.
