Tee Off with SORBA Atlanta at Panola Mountain
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to ride on a network of golf course cart paths? In late 2004, the Georgia DNR acquired the Southerness Golf Course in Rockdale County and promptly closed it. The property is now part of the Panola Mountain State Park, and the fairways and greens continue to revert back to their natural, ungroomed states.
On November 21 at 10:00 a.m., SORBA Atlanta and the Southern Bicycle League are teaming up to lead a ride on the paved cart paths and in special unpaved access areas of Panola Mountain State Park. This is a reserved habitat for all manner of wildlife, flora and fauna.
This is a beginner-friendly ride best experienced on mountain or cyclocross bikes. Helmets required. $5 Parking Fee required, or display your Georgia State Park pass.
When: Saturday, November 21 at 10:00 a.m.
Address: 4871 Flat Bridge Road Stockbridge, GA 30281
Directions from Atlanta: Take I-20 East to exit 68, Wesley Chapel Road, go South. Turn left on Snapfinger Rd (Hwy 155) and travel about seven and a half miles. See the Park on the left.
