Progress at Allatoona Creek Park - Need your help though
Great news on the trails front! SORBA Atlanta has now received a signed Memo of Understanding (MOU) between SORBA and the Cobb County Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs Department. The MOU establishes a framework of cooperation between SORBA and Cobb County Parks.
The primary opportunity for biking trails in Cobb County is located at the future Allatoona Creek Park where 1,450 acres are leased to Cobb County by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in Acworth, GA. As it stands today, the plan is to complete construction of 14-15 miles of trail for both beginner and intermediate skill levels. It's important to note that this land is shared with hunters (archery only) during the fall and winter months.
This MOU is the culmination of five years’ effort, and trail work has already begun. A work party is scheduled for the 5th of June, and we need YOU! The first loop could even be open by September of 2010, but only with sufficient help from our SORBA volunteers. Click here to view details and register for the June 5th work party. Al Brown is the SORBA trail steward for this area, thanks Al! Email info@sorbaatlanta.org for questions.

Allatoona Creek Park!
Wow! Just found out about this project from my son-in-law who lives 35 miles away, while all the activity is here right down the street! LOL!
I look forward to joining your team in the future to help build these trails.
Ciao.
