Members of the Atlanta chapter work with land managers in the metro area to create trails and trail systems for mountain bikers and others to enjoy. Through advocacy, education, and recreational opportunities, SORBA carries out its mission to promote land access, trail preservation, and new trail development in order to enhance mountain bike riding, racing, fun, and fellowship for all mountain bicyclists in the southeastern United States.

work party on 20FEB to build a reroute on Steeplechase side. We need 8-10 people. Please email sorba.atlanta@gmail.com if you can help. Please Join us for some much needed trail work. Please dress appropriately for winter temps. Don't forget to bring something to drink. We plan on working from 9 to 1.

SORBA Atlanta is hard at work behind the scenes on building trails and relationships throughout the Metro Atlanta Area. To better engage and communicate with our membership, and the public at large, we are also hard at work building a new website.

Greetings and happy holidays from your new SORBA Atlanta board of directors!

As we are in the Christmas season, we would like to invite you to our December monthly meeting which will be much more of a social than a meeting. We have a great location being provided by Rockledge Apartments in Atlanta and will have some great music, food, drinks, and a photo slideshow of rides, races, and work that we have participated in during 2009. The new SORBA Atlanta Board of Directors has elected their chapter officers. They are:

  • Vice President: Eric Jaskewicz
  • Secretary: Annabeth Rice
  • Treasurer: Chris Dusack
  • At-large: Brian Berg, Steve Berrey, Al Tobias/Brett Broughton

Tee Off with SORBA Atlanta at Panola Mountain

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to ride on a network of golf course cart paths? In late 2004, the Georgia DNR acquired the Southerness Golf Course in Rockdale County and promptly closed it. The property is now part of the Panola Mountain State Park, and the fairways and greens continue to revert back to their natural, ungroomed states.
